Hair highlights from The BAFTAs 2015

This Sunday evening the stage was set for the annual BAFTA awards, an event created to recognise the best in British television. This year the the ceremony was hosted by Graham Norton at The Royal Opera House in London's West End.

Winners included Coronation Street as best continuing Drama, Ant and Dec's Saturday night Takeaway as best Entertainment show and Grand Designs at the best Features show.

Yet of much more interest to us was the bright and beautiful outfits and hairstyles on show at the BAFTA ceremony.

Here we take a look at some of the most memorable style highlights of the evening.

Chignon Hair Trend

A definite trend of the evening was the simple updo. Millie Mackintosh, who rose to fame with reality drama Made In Chelsea, went for a classic chignon bun that added a touch of timeless style to her look.

The sleek and sophisticated hairdo was created with styling products to add a slight wet look and fit  in with the contemporary trend. The style really suited her signature honey coloured locks.

Also flying the flag for the classic chignon bun was Lucy Meck, the former TOWIE stunner. Lucy again added the wet look to make the chignon feel more contemporary and also added a centre parting for extra style points.

The style made the most of Lucy's natural dark features with her black hair, dark brown eyes and red dress adding a little Spanish vibe to the red carpet.

Braided Beauty

Another hot look came in the form of braids with former Coronation Street and Ordinary Lies star Michelle Keegan and Made In Chelsea star Rosie Fortescue both using partially braided hair to add an edge to their look.

Rosie styled her hair in a crown plait with side ponytail while Michelle opted for a flowing side braid.

New Hair Style Debut

Sheridan Smith, who was up for the Best Leading Actress award for her role in ITV's Cilla, hit the red carpet with a brand new look – a short and stylish pixie cut.

She complimented the new hair with diamond drop earrings, a gorgeous black strapless gown and Richard Braqo heels finished in blue velvet.
